What happens when a musician, whose USP is romance, ties up with a revolutionary writer, who is known for writing unconventional stories? You get a very hot or rather ‘haute’ combination and we are expecting fireworks as Farhan Saeed signs up for his debut film with none other than Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. To jog your memory, KRQ wrote the recent superhit Punjab Nahin Jaungi and his other claims to fame are Pyare Afzal and Sadqey Tumhare amongst the thirty-plus successful plays he has written since 1995. He will be writing as well as directing this film.

We don’t have too many details yet but we are excited over the fact that Farhan, who made an impressive acting debut with TV play Udaari, has chosen a very strong project to make his film debut with. The rest of the cast is being confirmed as we speak. Farhan and Urwa made a great couple in Udaari and we wonder whether he can have just as strong chemistry with anyone else!

Farhan and Urwa in Udaari

What else can we say besides the fact that ‘musical actors’ are becoming somewhat of a USP of Pakistan’s new age film industry. It all started (as far back as my memory goes) with Fawad Khan in Khuda Kay Liye and Ali Zafar in Tere Bin Laden; Atif Aslam made a brief appearance in Bol, we saw Ali Azmat in Waar, we will be seeing Haroon Shahid in the upcoming Verna and we also hear of Ali Noor making his film debut soon. On the flip side, we also see actors crossing over to explore their musical side, with Ayesha Omar, Mehwish Hayat and now Sajal Aly effectively playing both cards.

Back to Farhan Saeed, this will definitely be one film to watch out for, as we don’t expect Saeed to sign up for a sub-standard project! Expectations are high!
