All things Maula Jatt have a tendency to have us riveted and this upcoming film, featuring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick in lead roles, is certainly standing out on the 2019 cinemasphere. While producers are keeping details of the film tightly under wraps, we have gotten hold of a little bit of info that will allow us to imagine Mahira Khan’s look in the film…just a little.

We just learned that Lahore-based designer Zara Shahjahan has developed Mahira Khan’s look in the film and we couldn’t be happier with the choice. Zara is someone who has always embraced tradition in her designs; she was one of the first designers to bring the conventional shalwar kameez dupatta to the runway and she herself is often seen wearing evolved styles of the national dress to red carpets.

Zara Shahjahan, along with styling from Maram Aabroo, is responsible for Mahira’s gaon ki gori look.

“Mahira will be seen in a very different way,” Zara spoke to Something Haute about the film. “She’s done a great job in transforming herself into this Punjabi speaking, village girl.”

Without giving much away, the designer shared that a lot of research had gone into Mahira’s Maula Jatt look and it wasn’t just colourful clothes with a paranda. The clothes actually aren’t that colourful at all and while we will see Mahira in a laacha, the look will be completely unique.

Zara clarified that this image (featured), released today as ‘Mahira Khan for Zara Shahjahan’ was NOT from Maula Jatt. Keep following this space for more updates…
