Wahaj Ali has been in the industry for quite some time now, his most notable performance being one the four main leads in Ehd e Wafa. Since then, the underrated performer and his work has managed to gain immense popularity and appreciation. We saw Wahaj in the recently concluded Bikhray Moti and he is currently on screen as Riz in Ghisi Piti Mohabbat. The actor has now announced that he will next be seen with the exceptionally talented Yumna Zaidi in an upcoming drama titled Dil Na Umeed To Nahi. According to reports, the narrative highlights the issue of human trafficking.

“Dil Na Umeed To Nahi is a beautiful story on hope,” Wahaj shared in an exclusive interview with Something Haute. Without wanting to reveal any details, he said that it’s an emotional story with many underlying messages. “It’s an issue-based plot, beautifully directed by Kashif Nisar, who is one of the best storytellers we have in Pakistan.”

“There were three reasons for me to sign this project,” Wahaj said, speaking of his motivation behind choosing this project.

“Firstly, the script directed by Kashif Nisar prompted me to choose this project. Secondly, the character of Jamshed is written with a sensitive approach, starting from his childhood and how he ends up distancing himself from the people who he loved the most and the positivity he had despite his bitter surroundings. Third and the last reason was the cast. From Noman Aijaz to Yasra Rizvi from Yumna Zaidi to Samiya Mumtaz, I believe there is a charm of sharing the screen with such characters.”

He has nothing but admiration for the entire cast. “Yumna is a fantastic actress and we are very lucky to have her,” agreed Wahaj when asked about his co-actor, who is known for playing unique and unconventional roles. This will be the first time these two will be seen sharing the screen. “She is the perfect combination of action and reaction,” said Wahaj, adding that it’s easy to work with her.

Dil Na Umeed To Nahi will feature them as childhood friends who grew up together and the narrative revolves around their struggles. “They have their own struggles and these struggles shape them into better individuals as well as better human beings of a society.”

Considering the recent restrictions on certain dramas for highlighting unconventional issues and bold storylines, we asked Wahaj what he thought of the entire matter. “I think it’s not healthy but at the same time we shouldn’t be producing any content that is a source of dispute for anyone,” he confessed. ” We all have to come on a single page to finish off this ban culture thing.”

Dil Na Umeed To Nahi has been penned by Amna Mufti and will be directed by Kashif Nasir, the director of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi.
