Rafay Rashdi’s much-anticipated web series Baadshah Begum has been creating quite a buzz since the project was announced. We already know that Gohar Rasheed, Iman Ali and Imran Ashraf are part of the ensemble cast, but recently Faysal Quraishi has joined the team with Rafay revealing on Facebook that the actor will be playing a menacing villain in the series.

In an exclusive conversation with Something Haute, Faysal shared that viewers are in for many surprises when it comes to Baadshah Begum.

“I always like playing different characters from my previous roles. This is the reason when Rafay approached me about two months ago, I read the script and discussed it. The key point for me here is that the character is amazing. I really don’t consider the format if it is a film, drama or a web show, what clicks to me is a character. There is a lot to margin to perform in a negative character,” he said.

They series is currently in a nascent stage and they are working on character sketches. Faysal thinks that viewers should wait and watch for the plenty of surprises which they have in store, especially other cast members.

“Rafay is working hard to ensure it has great production value. We still have time to go on floors, but we are waiting to release it on a good platform,” he added.

Written by Saji Gul of O Rangreza fame, Baadshah Begum is a story of sibling rivalry where members are in a constant struggle to acquire power within the family. Faysal is currently working on his first film after the revival of cinema in Pakistan, Sorry – A Love Story. The actor has a completely different persona in the film and now he has signed on to a dark and gritty character in Baadshah Begum. What are his thoughts?

“I have recently played two opposite roles in TV serials Baba Jani and Haiwan. So I enjoy this process of donning different hats. My character in Baashah Begum has a different feel and getup altogether in comparison to what I’m doing in Sorry, which is for cinema. The shooting timeline will be totally different as well so I am looking forward to working on this character,” the actor said.

When asked how excited he is to dabble in a new format, Faysal shared that he feels happy to be a part of all mediums.

“I am thankful to everyone who wanted to see me on the big screen. I also wanted to appear in films for a long time, but I didn’t want to be a part of a run of the mill story. I am producing Sorry as well for the same reason so as to to add different flavours in the film industry. If you look at the kind of films that are scheduled to be released in the upcoming quarter, every film is different from other and that is what I am excited about,” he said adding, “Hopefully Sorry will be released before the web series, but Rafay is keeping an open mind and working with an international format.”
