It was previously reported that Bollywood actor Jeetendra had been accused of sexual assault, by a female relative. The complainant claimed that the actor had assaulted her some 47 years ago.

Indian media has now reported that an FIR has been registered against Jeetendra following these allegations. Indian Express has quoted Superintendent of Police Umapati Jamwal as saying, “an FIR under section 354 IPC has been registered at Chotta Shimla police station. After her [the alleged victim] email, we got in touch with the complainant, who later had also sent us a written complaint to support her version”.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in January 1971, when the victim was 18 and the actor was 28. Reportedly, Jeetendra is the complainant’s maternal cousin. The complainant has not yet provided details of the incident, like the name of the hotel and her proof of stay, and will now record her statement before a magistrate.

Earlier, Jeetendra’s lawyer had outrightly rubbished the allegations and issued a statement denying any such incident.
