After the nationwide success of Wrong no. in 2015, the film’s sequel titled Wrong no. 2 is all set to release on Eid ul Fitr this year. The film, like its counterpart, has garnered mixed feedback and now, its first song Yaariyan is out.

Directed and written by Yasir Nawaz, the film stars Neelum Muneer, Sami Khan, Javed Sheikh, Mehmood Aslam, Sana Fakhar, Danish Nawaz, Ahmed Hassan, Shafqat Cheema and many more.  The song which features Neelum and Sami, who share a romantic equation in the film, is groovy for the first 40 seconds, however, from there on it becomes an overdose of the word ‘yaari‘ and ‘yaariyan‘. The lyrics are not only weak but also an excessive repetition of the song title, making it incongruous.

The composition undoubtedly is reedy and would make you groove which is refreshing to listen to and Harshdeep Kaur’s -popular songs include Dilbarro, Zaalima, Nachde Ne Saare- vocals add character to the song. However, we feel that it’s an opportunity missed to not utilize such powerful vocals adequately.

Wrong no. 2

What truly stands out are the scenic views beautifully captured from aerial views. Whether the lush green crops, fresh water and palm tree fields, they are all truly breathtaking views. But we fail to understand why Sami has donned a basic shirt throughout the song while Neelum gets multiple wardrobe changes and why are there such few close-up shots of the on-screen couple?

Overall the first half of the song is worth it, while the latter half falls flat.

Have you heard the song?
