The highly-anticipated Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt will finally see the day of light later this year after a prolonged pre and post-production phase. The directorial venture of Bilal Lashari, produced by Ammara Hikmat and featuring Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan and Humaima Malick has been making news time and again owing to a legal battle with reports of a stay order being issued against the film’s release.

However, Hamza Ali Abbasi has now stated that there is no stay order and the film will be released as scheduled.

Producer of original Maula Jatt  — Sarwar Bhatti — had filed a suit before the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan’s (IPO) tribunal last year seeking an injunctive order against the exhibition of The Legend of Maula Jatt being directed by Bilal Lashari. He claimed to possess the rights of the movie, including title and cinematography.

“There’s no stay order. You know what they say when someone tried to do something, others jump to the occasion and pull his leg. So, that guy claimed that this is his film and why we are making it. Our writer is Nasir Adeeb sahib who wrote the original film. I hope that he thinks maturely and understands that because of his personal vendetta, he should not hamper the growth of the Pakistani [film] industry,” Hamza said in an exclusive interview with Something Haute.

Here’s his complete interview in which he also spoke about what took so long for the film to be made and also revealed when the trailer is releasing:
