This year promises to be a little better in terms of film releases in Pakistan but then when you think of it, didn’t we feel the same way this time last year as well? I think we did but the releases in 2017 didn’t quite have the impact we were hoping for. There are several big banner films that make 2018 look good and since Hamza Ali Abbasi will be featuring in two of them, I thought I’d get his opinion on which ones he was looking forward to, personally…

“JPNA 2, Teefa in Trouble, Load Wedding, Parwaaz Hai Junoon & Maula Jatt and many such anticipated films make me very optimistic for 2018,” Hamza replied.

The actor was seen in the first and hugely successful Jawani Phir Nahi Aani but pulled out of JPNA2 for personal reasons and signed up for Parwaaz Hai Junoon and the one film with highest expectations, the Maula Jatt reboot.

I asked him how he compared the two characters.

“One is of a patriotic young romantic fighter pilot and the other is, well… Noori Nath,” he smiled. I believe that the makeup is so intense in Maula Jatt that Hamza is almost unrecognizable.

“Wellllll… That’s for the audience to decide,” he laughed without giving away more.
