What defines the average Asian woman, other than her apparent and obvious gorgeousness? Her hair, of course!

The wedding season is the ideal opportunity for every girl to flaunt that one asset that defines her best. It’s that time of the year when beats of the dholak reverberate everywhere, the aroma of henna infuses in the air, the chitter-chatter of countless guests runs through every other home and the festive mood overtakes everything else. Well, almost. The one thing on top of every girl’s mind, you see, is how good her hair looks and Sunsilk’s new TVC, featuring the haute pink thick and long shampoo, taps into that dilemma fabulously!

Starring Hania Aamir – one of the prettiest new faces around (she really did impress us in last year’s Janaan) – the TVC delves into the numerous events that make Pakistani weddings the best time to show off some jewels, couture, and of course, style. Racheal Viccaji’s vocals lift a classic old number into contemporary beats, as Hania runs around, weaving her lovely hair in the narrative.

Directed by Farooq Mannan, the Sunsilk ad uses its familiar pink variant shampoo, ‘thick and long’, and taps into a fashionable and appealing visual. There are trends to be picked up, and here are our top picks:

1 Hania’s wardrobe: The ad features beautiful wedding wear by Sania Maskatiya and Nomi Ansari; festive fashion is all about colour, gota and the essential ghagra choli that you cannot spin onto the dance floor without.

2 Hania’s choice of accessories include a stunning aarsi ring, a nose pin (the importance of which has been reinforced by Mahira in Raees) and a delicate maatha patti.

3 And last but definitely not least, enhancing her long hair are some inspiring styles including thick curls, side braids, a side sweep and as she says, “khulay baal and mehndi looks perfect!”

It would help you immensely if you had Hania’s dimples, putting you in the same league as Deepika Padukone and well, Bilal Ashraf. But pity, some things don’t come in a shampoo bottle!
