News of the Day: Haroon Shahid is more popularly known for his musical abilities. He used to be a part of the band SYMT and we saw him delivering flawless performances in Coke Studio. But the musician has now put on his acting cap for Shoaib Mansoor’s upcoming film Verna and he happens to be making his cinematic debut opposite the very charming and beautiful Mahira Khan. Mahira has years of acting experience, as well as a very commercially successful Bollywood flick opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Raees.
So we wondered if Haroon felt nervous or intimidated by Mahira’s starry presence on the sets of Verna. “I’m really glad that I got to work alongside Mahira for my debut film,” he shared. “We were acquainted due to our VJ-ing days so there was no awkwardness. And Mahira is the kind of person who doesn’t let you get intimidated. She’s very down to earth and friendly.”
Haroon also revealed that not only was Mahira a fun co-star to work with but also sort of like the second director for him. “For me, there were two directors guiding my performance. Shoaib sahab of course, and Mahira. She would also help me out on the set,” and since this is Haroon’s first ever acting gig, we can imagine that he needed quite a bit of help.
“Music makes connections and since Mahira understands music, it was very easy for us to click,” he added as an afterthought.
Judging by the pictures we’ve seen of the Verna gang, it seems like a very young and fresh cast and crew. We also spotted Shahbaz Shigri, a budding filmmaker who first came into the limelight with his film Slackistan that featured Aisha Linnea Akhtar, Ali Rehman Khan, himself and Osman Khalid Butt as well.
We don’t have an official date yet but we know that Verna will be released this year!
