With androgyny becoming a fast catching trend worldwide, it’s a pity that we’re still not able to embrace it the way it should be. It makes for a much-needed change in the mundane fashion scene today, not to mention the fact that androgynous clothing has the comfort and style factor going with it. Sure we’ve seen a designer here and there dabble into gender benders, with Amir Adnan’s last collection as well as the androgynous silhouettes we sometimes tend to find at Generation.

Amir Adnan’s Fall 2017 collection is an androgynous ode to Autumn

Design houses worldwide have however embraced the gender fluid fashion scene and it seems to bring a sub continental twist; a modern version of the sherwani. Louis Vuitton’s latest Spring 2018 collection featured a lot of breezy silhouettes as well as front open jackets with classic band collars which we have come to call the sherwani collar today.

Classic black and gold, definitely something all desi ladies would love

A black leather sherwani style coat? Why not!

While this doesn’t look the best on a bulky male model, we do think a flared sherwani style tunic would look uber cool on the ladies! We wish they had sent Saheefa Jabbar wearing this down the runway.

Even these pleated styles by Amir Adnan earlier this year would work so well if made for women! A sherwani-pishwaas hybrid perhaps?

Zara 2017

This Zara blazer might not be the length of a sherwani but its embellished details and double breasted design sure reminds us of one. We’d love to wear a longer version of it for the festive season!

A scarlet red jacket, very sherwani like when buttoned up; super haute and unconventional!
