Most people enjoyed watching the first episode of Mere Paas Tum Ho, we certainly did. But we didn’t expect it to go on and set a new record!

Well, it has. According to ARY Digital, the channel its airing on, Mere Paas Tum Ho has received the highest ever ratings for the first episode of any drama serial in Pakistan’s history! That’s certainly very impressive.

What’s worth noting is that the project wasn’t heavily promoted before release. What could have drawn such a large number of viewers to it, then? One could argue that it’s Humayun Saeed’s star power that’s at work here. He is after all returning to the small screen after the mega success of his previous drama serial Dil Lagi and Pakistan’s highest grossing film ever JPNA2. It’s no surprise that he’s got a loyal fan base that has only increased many folds and his ability to pull audiences to the cinemas and also to the TV screens — as we can now infer — is unmatched but his pairing with Ayeza Khan — a fantastic actress herself and with whom this is his first project — may very well have also contributed to the staggering ratings.

Mere Paas Tum Ho has been directed by Nadeem Baig while the script has been written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar — both of whom are masters of their crafts. Over all, it’s got everything going in its favour and our only hope is that the momentum that the first episode has built continues to grow: after all Pakistani dramas do have a tendency to falter mid-way and crash fully in the last five episodes.

As we hope for the best, here’s a video from when we visited the set during the first spell of shooting. Humayun, Ayeza and Nadeem had revealed interesting insights about the project so you might want to watch it:
