Yasra Rizvi is a powerhouse of talent and people have recognized it after quite some time, especially after the success of her recent web series Churails. Her role as Jungu has certainly redefined her as an actor and won her a bigger following.

The actor is extremely selective of the projects she does, however, fans are in for a treat as she is currently set to star in two major television dramas; Dunk and Dil Na Umeed to Nahi.

Dunk is a social issue-based story and it also serves meaty helpings of love, betrayal, loss, grief, and regret,” she told Something Haute while speaking of one of the most highly anticipated production of the year.

The drama will feature some great performances as the cast includes some of the finest actors in the industry. “Performances are definitely something to look forward to on top of Badar Mehmood’s detailed and excellent execution-style,” she shared.

Yasra, who herself is a versatile actor plays an important role opposite industry veteran Naumaan Ejaz. “The character I play is Saira and there is a range of emotion to play with; the bonds she has with her husband and daughter, and what she represents is what got me interested,” she revealed the reason why she signed the project. “Acting opposite Naumaan Ejaz and working with Badar were cherry on the top.”

The actor is selective and very particular when it comes to choosing projects, however, she feels signing Dunk was the right decision. “The experience was as expected, fulfilling, and rewarding. Since I only end up doing one TV show a year now, I am glad I picked this script for 2020.”

Speaking of Dil Na Umeed to Nahi, which is another social issue-based story regarding women trafficking, Yasra said it was an amazing experience nonetheless. “It is an important story again brought to you by a very skillful team, ace director Kashif Nisar, and some brilliant actors.”

Yasra also acknowledged that she has always enjoyed working with Yumna Zaidi who plays the lead in Dil Na Umeed to Nahi.

Despite choosing some amazing scripts, she feels her character from Churails cannot bring much change to the characters being offered to her for television.

“The spectrum of characters for someone like me or anyone won’t change much because of the themes TV prefers to stay within,” she confessed adding that she ends up rejecting most roles offered to her.

Yasra also feels that the ban culture in Pakistan is problematic for artists, however, policymaking is the answer. “Due process and right to defend your work and participation in such deliberations and discussions before extreme measures is the way to go.”

The actor, who is also a writer, poetess, and storyteller herself, feels that she’s acted enough for the year, and for now, she only needs to write and read more.

“I have acted plenty for this year,” she concluded adding that she doesn’t wish for much. “Whatever has to happen will eventually happen; all I can do is get up, dress up, and show up!”
