Queen of Pakistani music and now a phenomenal actor, Hadiqa Kiani turns everything she touches into gold. First she stood out with her incredible music and now she has exceeded all our expectations as an actor. While there is a huge debate regarding what the viewers want to watch, the success o f her recent drama, Dobara is proof that the audience will watch unconventional stories if they are told well.

Hadiqa, who plays the character of Mehrunissa or Mehru, does not believe in ratings, but the TRPs Dobara received after its latest episode aired on Wednesday (Feb 16) are basically proof of the project’s success and demand.

She took to Instagram to share her thoughts and thank the makers for giving her the opportunity to be part of such an unconventional drama.

“I don’t really believe in ratings or applying a numerical value to art but what this 8.8 TRP number indicates to channels, writers and directors is that unconventional stories with an unconventional cast deserve to be told,” she wrote.

“[I’m] grateful that we had the chance to make this happen with our truly amazing team,” she added.

Singer-turned-actor has proved herself to be a multi-talented and intelligent artist. While many actors claim that there isn’t a choice when it comes to scripts, she went on to sign yet another unconventional drama and won the audience.

Dobara has been directed by Danish Nawaz, penned by Sarwat Nazir and produced by Momina Duraid Productions. The story takes us on a journey of a woman who is fighting for her right to live after her husband passes away.

She will next be seen in Pinjra penned by late writer Asma Nabeel, who lost her life to cancer last year. Directed by Najaf Bilgrami, the drama is being shot these days.
