Indian music duo steal Farhan Saeed’s song Roiyaan

Another day and another incident of Indian musicians stealing our music! Farhan Saeed took to Twitter earlier today (Saturday) to reveal that Indian music duo Salim-Sulaiman had lifted the chorus of his hit song Roiyaan for their “original” composition titled Haareya.

“Someone just sent me @salim_merchant song HAREYA, which is a total copy of my song ROIYAAN. I wonder they have the audacity to call themselves artists when they steal someone’s work. Karna hi hai to pooch ke kuro aur ager poochna nahin hai to at least acha to kuro! #stopstealing,” Farhan tweeted.

Salim was quick to respond to Farhan’s allegation but made a rather feeble attempt at defending himself. “Farhan I just heard your song. It’s a mere coincidence that the chorus of Haareya is like your song. To be honest I’ve never heard it before. It happens many a times when notes have a natural progression from each other. @Sulaiman & I have a track record of never plagiarising,” he replied.

It’s hard to believe that it was a mere coincident, though. Here is Farhan’s Roiyaan:

And here’s Salim’s Haareya:

Do you think this is a coincidence or are Salim-Sulaiman at fault here? By the way, it’s Farhan’s birthday today so here’s us wishing him a happy, healthy and long life!
