“Learning that I have been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour as of now has been admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope,” he tweeted.

Irrfan mentioned that he will be flying out of India for treatment. “The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes.”

The actor also clarified that contrary to the rumours regarding the condition, ‘NEURO’ is not always about the brain and that googling is not always the easiest way to research. He concluded the post stating, “To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell.”

According to The Quint, an endocrine tumor ioccurs in parts of the body that produce hormones. Neuroendocrine gland is one of the many endocrine glands that a human body has. When the gland starts producing more than it’s supposed to, it extends into a tumor.

This disease can appear in several forms. A Neuroendocrine Tumor can grow in spots like pancreas or a gland in the belly. It can also affect the stomach, intestines, or lungs. Sometimes, the tumor itself can start producing hormones which can lead to serious illness.

At the moment there are no details regarding the kind of Neuroendocrine Tumor Irrfan is battling. We wish him good health and a speedy recovery.
