Mehwish Hayat has been juggling films, television, singing and more for over a decade now. Last seen in Nabeel Qureshi’s Load Weddingand heard in Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s 3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors as the voice of the antagonist, Mehwish is now well on her way to making her presence felt, beyond Pakistan, in the world of cosmetics.

During her recent visit to New York, Mehwish began posting intriguing videos and pictures of her makeup, done by New Jersey-based makeup artist Maliha J. Khan (best known for her work with Bollywood actress, Nargis Fakhri) on Instagram. Little did she know, world-acclaimed American-Iraqi beauty blogger and entrepreneur, Huda Kattan of the cosmetics’ line Huda Beauty, would end up taking notice.

“It’s interesting how something that started off very casually turned into something major. I was in the States with my family this fall when Maliha and I decided to come up with some looks and record them, put them out there, and just experiment a little,” Mehwish shared with Something Haute. “I’m the only Pakistani actress whom Maliha has worked with and she’s been a very dear friend for a while now. And when I’d started posting videos and pictures, Huda liked and commented, and ended up sharing one of them, which is when I realized sh*t had gotten real,” she burst into laughter.

Huda not only liked and commented on Mehwish’s video, but also ended up reposting it on her 30 million follower profile. Upon inquiring, one discovered that Mehwish has also kept in touch with Kattan and a collaboration of sorts is underway. Though she hinted at a campaign with a shoot for the brand’s products, Mehwish kept her lips sealed on any further details.

“Huda Beauty is undoubtedly one of the most renowned modern-day cosmetics’ brands that are globally recognized. For her, to share it on her own Instagram was rather unexpected, and we’ve kept in touch since. We follow one another on Instagram and we’re in talks for a project that I’m not at the liberty of talking about,” Mehwish responded of what’s brewing between the two.

2019 seems like an interesting year for the star as she sets off to explore different routes. She will be seen in Wajahat Rauf’s upcoming web-series with Azfar Rehman – for which she has also sung a few songs – and will be coming out with more music and is closely working on her next cinematic offering.
