After featuring in one of Coke Studio Season 11’s biggest hits, ‘Baalkada‘, singer Jimmy Khan is all set to introduce his ‘live folk’ album, Tich Button, in December.

Aiming to revive and preserve Punjabi folk poetry with the signature ‘Jimmy Khan Band‘ sound, the album will include the band’s renditions of traditional, contemporary and original folk tunes that have been a part of their most recent live set.

“You will hear renditions of songs you’re familiar with including an original titled ‘Tich Buttna Di Jori,” Jimmy revealed during an exclusive chat with Something Haute. “Tich Button is material we’ve been performing live for the past two years and finally decided to take to the studio. In essence, it’s a celebration of our beautiful language and the fulfillment of my desire to sing Punjabi and Seraiki and get it heard across to especially the younger generation.”

The album features a compilation of 5 songs, including the traditional tunes such as ‘Nikka Mota Bajra,’ last performed and recorded by Musarrat Nazir; ‘Chan Kithan’ and ‘Pyar Naal Na Sahi’ by Attaullah Esakhelvi, Sajjad Ali’s ‘KirKir’, and an original track titled ‘Tich Buttna Di Jori’.

“The reason to do renditions of these very songs is that I adore all these songs and the artists who’ve made them the hits that they are,” the singer said when asked why he chose to go with renditions. “That is why they’ve been a part of my set for so long and that is why I am presenting my renditions of them. But the song  for everyone to take note of will definitely be the original titled ‘Tich Buttna Di Jori‘.”

The first song from the album will be released on 1st December 2018, which the singer feels will be able to make the younger generation interested in the ‘expression and beauty’ of the Punjabi language.

“This body of work is a celebration of our beautiful language and the fulfillment of my desire to sing Punjabi and Seraiki and get it heard across and through to especially the younger generation whose interest I may be able to spark and learn like I am, the expression and beauty of Punjabi,” the singer concluded.
