Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut has apparently turned director for her upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi — that’s already been shot mostly.

According to the Indian media, Kangana — who is playing a warrior queen in the film — has stepped into the director’s shoes to complete some patch work as the film’s actual director, Krish Jagarlamudi, is busy with some other project. It has been reported that the real reason behind this is not that Jagarlmundi is busy, but Kangana’s constant interference that irked the director so much that he left the project.

Kangana’s team, however, has issued a statement refuting these rumours. “Krish Jagarlamudi is director of Manikarnika and will remain so. He’s currently fulfilling his unavoidable commitments with another project and so Kangana Ranaut has stepped in to shoot patchwork on his behalf. The team of Manikarnika wants the movie to release on 25th January 2019 and to make sure that happens Kangana had to step in to do the patchwork, which she is doing very dedicatedly,” is what’s written in the statement as reported by Filmfare.

That’s not it though. Bollywood Hungama has reported that one of Kangana’s co-stars in the film, Sonu Sood, has walked out of the project after alleging that he was bullied by her. “Yes, Sonu has left the film. He took a lot of crap from a person who feels she knows how to direct a film without any real qualification to do so. But finally when Kangana Ranaut officially took over the direction, Sonu couldn’t take it no more. He quit the film,” Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying.

Apparently Kangana also wanted to cut down Sonu’s role. “When Kangana gradually took over the project she also wanted Sonu Sood’s role to be cut down to size. This was the last straw. The normally mild-mannered Sonu just erupted,” Bollywood Hungama‘s source said.
