After the success of Saba Qamar and Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium, rumours were rife that a second instalment (Hindi Medium 2) is in the works. Many names have been doing the rounds for the female lead as Saba Qamar won’t be able to work in it owing to the blanket ban on Pakistani artistes in India.

Now, a report in Hindustan Times has confirmed that Kareena Kapoor Khan has joined Irrfan Khan on Hindi Medium 2. A source close to the actor told IANS, “She is playing the lead role in the film and might turn into cop mode for it.”

A source told the Asian Age, and confirmed Irrfan being a part of Hindi Medium 2, “While Hindi Medium was shot extensively in India, the sequel will be shot in the US. The story will revolve around the daughter, to be played by Radhika Madan, who leaves travels to the United States for her higher education.”

Kareena will be playing the role of a police officer for the first time in her 19-year-long career. The sequel will be Irrfan’s first project after he was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour in March last year.

The first edition of the hit franchise, which was directed by Saket Choudhary and released in 2017, was based on India’s education system and so it became a commercial success and earned critical acclaim as well.
