In a reunion that die-hard Titanic fans probably have been waiting for a long time, director James Cameron will reunite with his former leading lady Kate Winslet for his upcoming second part of the Avatar franchise.

Kate will be playing a character named ‘Ronal’ and it’s unclear yet how many of the four planned sequels she will appear in or whether she’ll even be human or Na’vi – the blue coloured beings of an extra-terrestrial planet.

When breaking the news to Deadline, James Cameron said, “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career.”

However, despite the Kate/James collaboration coming to fruition, the two haven’t really shared an amicable relationship in the past. In 1998, when the actress was making the press rounds for her Oscar-nominated work in Titanic she famously told the L.A. Times: “I would only work for Jim Cameron again for a lot of money.”

That, however, wasn’t just it. For a brief time, the director even went on to body shame Kate, and started calling the actress ‘Kate Weights-A-Lot.’ That being said, it seems the two have decided to bury the hatchet and finally move onto bigger projects that surely have their fans reeling for more.

Avatar 2 is slated for a release on December 18, 2020.
