All eyes are on Fawad Khan this year and for more than one reason. His fans hadn’t finished obsessing over the teaser of The Legend of Maula Jatt, when it was announced that Fawad would be singing the Pakistan Super League official anthem for 2019. ‘Khel Deewano Ka’ released yesterday evening and it’s given Fawad fans something more to fixate over. This delivery definitely has swing!

Composed by Shuja Haider and featuring very cool rap beats brought in by Young Desi, ‘Khel Deewano Ka’ is an interesting combination of three very different genres of musicians, brought together for the love of cricket. Fawad, who’s been brand ambassador for Islamabad United all along, gave up that title to step into these shoes. He’s more artiste than performer but he’s got the package that puts the heat into the beat. And it works. Fawad is quite the multi-talented star; there’s no doubt that he’s an actor par excellence, he can sing and has the rock-edge to engage fans when he’s on stage. It’s quite a formidable package and it’s delightful that he’s back in so many diverse avatars, whether as the legendary Jatt, PSL anthem carrier, judge at Pepsi Battle of the Bands or beyond. It certainly does look like this is his year.

Fawad Khan as Maula Jatt

Meanwhile, Pakistan Super League will be stepping into its fourth year and has three previous hit songs, all delivered by Ali Zafar, who aced his performance last year by making an aerial entry to ‘Dil Se Jaan Laga De’. ‘Khel Deewano Ka’ will certainly add to the legacy. What’s interesting is that Ali released the first teaser to his 2018 film, Teefa in Trouble, at the PSL stadium. Will we get to see more of The Legend of Maula Jattin Dubai this year, as Fawad takes the stage? We know that Fawad, Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi (brand ambassadors for Peshawer Zalmi) will be there already and we’re sure Humaima will make it too. Will the PSL stadium be a stage for some Jatt madness?

The PSL opening ceremony is all set for February 14, with Fawad Khan, Junoon and Pitbull onboard, to rock cricket lovers in Dubai and across the world.
