After keeping details about their upcoming crime-thriller film Laal Kabootar under wraps, the team behind the film has now officially announced Ali Kazmi and Mansha Pasha as the lead cast.

Directed by budding first-time filmmaker Kamal Khan, the film revolves around the dystopian underbelly of Karachi, where the two protagonists find themselves in a ‘situation.’ What ensues is largely what Laal Kabootar‘s narrative is about.

Speaking about her film to Something Haute, Mansha Pasha revealed how her character goes through ‘things’ which moves the story forward.

“My role is extremely challenging. She’s the female protagonist in the film, and something happens to her which she has to overcome with a lot of personal turmoil,” Mansha said. “The film is largely about what she does; it’s an intense role, which was truly quite challenging to perform.”

The actress, who’ll be essaying her role alongside Ali Kazmi – who plays a journalist in the film, also feels that her role is different from anything she’s done before.

“My role is obviously different because the way the film has been done is unlike anything that I have seen before,” Mansha said. “It’s a lot like Sacred Games, so I think my fans will like it. It’s a Karachi-based story and shows the interaction of the city with the characters in the film. All of that makes it unique.”

Laal Kabootar also stars Ahmed Ali and Saleem Mairaj in pivotal roles. It is slated for a release in 2019.
