One of the most anticipated films this month, Laal Kabootar is taking Pakistanis by surprise, one step at a time. If their power-packed trailer wasn’t enough, the fun rap number Jugart and now, the title track of the film is garnering praises for all the right reasons.
The movie has been directed by Kamal Khan (this marks his debut in films), produced by Kamil and Hania Chima and written by Ali Abbas Naqvi. The expectations from the film are sky-rocketing and just a day ahead of its premiere in Karachi, the filmmakers have released the title track.
Written by a bunch of talented men from the industry; Asim Raza, Osman Khalid Butt, Salman Khattak and Taha Malik who have created a track that represents the true essence of the city. Naturally, the music of the film will be compared to the popular Bollywood film Gully Boy as all of its songs were raps too but that isn’t a point of concern for the Laal Kabootar team.
In a conversation with Something Haute, Salman [songwriter] remarked, “people are saying that we did this after Gully Boy but the fact is that it’s not possible. We’ve worked on this for a very long time but it just happens to have released before us. But, we don’t mind. In fact, it’s good that people will compare it to the Bollywood film and see that we have local talent and they’re exceptional.”
The power-packed vocals by Taha Malik are creating buzz for all the right reasons. Not only is his delivery exceptional, but the lyrics also do not fall flat, making you believe that the film is a complete package.
Featuring Ahmed Ali Akbar, Mansha Pasha and Ali Kazmi in pivotal roles, the film releases nationwide on March 22.
