Renowned French brand Lacoste has unveiled a new Lacoste x Save Our Species collection, in partnership with the International Conservation of Nature.

The brand has released 10 new limited edition polo shirt designs, where the iconic crocodile has been replaced with an embroidered applique of an endangered species. Javan Rhino (only 67 left in the world); the Northern Sportive Lemur (only 50 left), and the Burmese Roofed Turtle (whose numbers have dwindled to 30) are all a part of this new collection.

All proceeds from the sales of these shirts will go to benefit wildlife conservation worldwide. This ‘Save Our Species’ collection kicks off a three-year partnership between Lacoste and the IUCN.

With a total of 1,775 shirts in production, the number of shirts available for sale corresponds to the number of animals of each species that remain in the wild. The croc has graced the brand’s polos for 85 years and is an homage to founder René Lacoste, who was dubbed “The Crocodile” because of his tenacity on the tennis court.

The “Save Our Species” partnership marks the first time the brand has ever initiated a logo change.
