After receiving much critical acclaim in Pakistan last year, the Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat starrer, Load Wedding is all set to go digital by being available on Netflix from March.

Confirming exclusively to Something Haute, director Nabeel Qureshi revealed that the film will be available digitally on the popular online streaming platform, worldwide.

“A lot of people have been asking me about Load Wedding’s release, so I am hoping that the film will be on Netflix by March, let’s see,” the filmmaker said. “The good part is that the film’s reach will increase when it’ll go digital.”

Although the film faced tough competition at the box office due to two major film releases – Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Parwaaz Hai Junoon releasing alongside the film, Nabeel is hopeful that Load Wedding will get its fair share of acclaim globally with the new avenue being available for Pakistani cinema.

“Now we have three avenues for a film – there’s cinema, then a television premiere and of course, now there’s this [digital], so this will surely work out for the better,” he said. “We were the first ones to go on Netflix with Na Maloom Afraad and it did quite well, so I am excited for Load Wedding to be on the same platform.”

Directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Fizza Ali Meerza, Load Wedding explores the socio-cultural norm of dowry in the Subcontinent and the subsequent effects it has on a family.
