In a world of ups and downs, success never comes easy; a prime example of that is Mahira Khan, who recently spoke about her failures and successes at an event held at Aga Khan University in Karachi amidst great applause.

Part of the Special Lecture Series at AKU, Mahira started off by speaking about the importance of having Yaqeen (faith) and how important it is to dream.

“When you are trapped in a dark place in life, faith helps you know that it will be okay,” she said, according to Dawn Images. Mahira then shared her struggles in college when she also held two jobs and had lost her living quarters. “Walking to the bus stand each day, I knew that one day there will be payback. That is having faith,” she added.

Speaking to a packed auditorium and lecture halls at the university, the Raees actress also spoke about how her failures became a reason for her success later on and how there is nothing if one doesn’t dream. Her talk was well-received by the audience.

“Let’s not forget failure. It is true that we have all gone through failure,” as she spoke about her name not being in the credits for Bol and in Raees.

“There are no repeats of your first film but somehow my name was missed as the Bol credits scrolled in front of me. Then for Raees, even though the teaser said ‘introducing Mahira Khan’, I felt like being punched in the stomach when there was no such credit in the film itself. Then when it was released, I was banned in India and the film was banned in Pakistan,” she said.

Concluding the talk amidst a gargantuan number of selfies, Mahira spoke about how her family and circle of friends have been a huge support system, who are always by her side despite it being ‘lonely at the top,’ and why they should be valued.

Mahira will be seen in three upcoming projects in Pakistan, which include Saath Din Mohabbat In alongside Sheheryar Munawar, Verna alongside Haroon Shahid, and Maula Jutt 2 alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan.
