The ‘no makeup’ look has become a fast favourite for its practicality and minimal aesthetic. Hence, nude lip colours have been all the rage and are seemingly here to stay.

I’m a lipstick hoarder, and my preferred colours are either outright vampy or very subtle – there is no in between! Here are some of my favourite and not so favourite colours from all the ones I’ve tried.

The worst

Gosh – Antique

nude

Not only did this colour turn out to make my lips look extremely pale, the formula was dry and sad too.

Clinique – Soft Bloom

nude

This was a freebie so I wasn’t expecting much but still ended up disappointed. It’s like putting on a really creamy chap-stick that has no colour.

NYX – Cannes

nude

While the colour is really pretty, the formula feels really dry on the lips. I like a lot of the NYX liquid shades which is why I bother to still use it with the help of a bit of petroleum jelly.

The best

MAC – Mehr
nude

The matte finish and pinkish tinge is so perfect for everyday use. This lipstick was actually a limited edition number designed while keeping in mind South Asian skin tones. Easily one of my favourites.

Estee Lauder – Barely Nude

nude

I didn’t think the perfect brown existed until I found this one in my mother’s makeup. Of course the consistency of the lipstick is super creamy and perfect too.

MAC – Cosmo

nudeI may be slightly biased when I comes to MAC, but aren’t we all? Cosmo is similar to Mehr in its tone, but is of a glossier finish.
