After becoming a voice of reason for women’s education and freedom around the world, the youngest Nobel-Laureate Malala Yousafzai has now become a public favourite around the globe. One example of it was recently seen in Punjab, India, where her murals were painted amongst some of the biggest names in the country.

Malala, who is considered an icon, had her mural painted along with other icons like Lata Mangeshkar, Amrita Prem, athlete PT Usha, and boxer Mary Kom amongst others in the city of Barnala.

Part of a campaign to honour the strongest women of India and the Subcontinent, Malala was the only non-Indian figure to be selected.

The move comes after Malala’s recent appearance at Davos, where she spoke against inequality and education.

“When we talk about feminism and women’s rights, we’re actually addressing men,” she said. “Men have a big role to play … We have to teach young boys how to be men. In order to be a man you have to recognize that all women and all those around you have equal rights and that you are part of this movement for equality.”

Now, isn’t this a proud moment?
