Manish Malhotra’s name is synonymous with the fabulous fashion we see Bollywood divas wear, on the runways, on the red carpet and most popularly, in hit movies. Can we ever forget the iconic green lehnga Kajol wore as Shah Rukh Khan sang ‘Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna’ in DDLJ? Urmila’s award winning fashion in Rangeela was courtesy Manish. Rani Mukherjee and Kajol were both dressed by MM in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai…you get the drift. Let’s just say it’s safe to assume that Bollywood wouldn’t be half as glamorous with Manish’s vision of how film costumes should be constructed.

That’s not all. Manish’s collections are inspirations and the subject of study for those who follow fashion and understand the craft. From charity galas to showing at international platforms to designing for films, he has his fingers in every possible pie and after 27 successful years of designing, he still has a lot to offer the world and the runway.

Manish took time out of his very busy schedule and flew to Dubai to judge the regional rounds of the Woolmark Prize 2017. He spoke to Something Haute about film, fashion and style in Pakistan.

This is what they discussed…
