4 lessons to be learnt from the ‘Mehrunisa V Lub U’ teaser

Mehrunisa v lub u

The teaser of Mehrunisa V Lub U opens with beautiful lyrics and narration by Gulzaar, yes Gulzaar, and then the fascination kind of stops there. It’s difficult to make much of the teaser, except that it looks like a romantic drama, while it was previously said to be a romantic comedy.

Starring Danish Taimoor and Sana Javed, who adorns the quintessential chiffon sari that sways with the breeze on a snow-capped mountain, Mehrunisa V Lub U reminds us of a typical Yash Raj Production. There is another obvious dance number that we’re assuming, by the looks of it, to be an item song. Packed with action sequences, family drama and lots of old-school-coy-romance, it’s difficult to make much of the teaser, which we suppose is what the producers were aiming for. And yet there are a few things that it actually did ended up teaching us!

1. HOW TO LOOK LIKE DANISH TAIMOOR

If you want to look like Danish Taimoor, you need to dye your hair that shade of red-brown! Why you would want to do that though, is out of our comprehension. Unless you belong to the rodent family.

2. CHIFFON SARIS WILL NEVER GO OUT OF FASHION

Yasir Nawaz may not be the next Yash Raj (okay maybe in his head he is) but he’s got the chiffon sari down to a flutter. Think Shah Rukh Khan, think Kajol and think the Swiss Alps and then replace them with everything you see in the teaser.

3. WE NEED NEW ACTORS!

Seeing Javed Sheikh as every hero’s father and Nayyer Ejaz as a villain since the beginning of time has become extremely mundane now. This time around though, Ejaz’s role as a transgender did look quite interesting.

4. MSN LINGO HAS TAKEN OVER CINEMA

Mehrunisa V Lub U! When we first heard of the film we thought some delinquent teenager has spelt it this way as a working title. Then we found out that this was actually the official title of the film. We haven’t had the heart to ask Yasir Nawaz why, but we’ll give him the benefit of saying, why not? Perhaps the title has some actual relevance and isn’t just a gimmick!

The movie releases on  Eid-ul-Fitr this year. Meanwhile you can watch the teaser here and tell us what you think…
