There are several news and rumours regarding an upcoming biopic on late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and that Mehwish Hayat is playing the lead role, however not much has been confirmed. Though Mehwish once shared a picture with a book on Benazir and captioned it: “I look forward to giving life to her story soon.” This served as a clear hint for many but now the actress has admitted that she has signed an NDA about this film.

In a recent interview with Aik Din Geo Ke Sath that aired on Geo News, Mehwish admitted that she is playing the role of Benazir Bhutto and the production of the said film is all set to begin in near future.

“That project is under development. The magnitude of the project is such that it requires time. I have signed an NDA so I can’t share too many details with you, but I can tell you that it is under development and the script is being worked on. The production is set to begin soon,” she said.

Back in 2018, when Mehwish shared the news on Instagram, it wasn’t welcomed by Benazir’s daughter, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. “Certainly no consent from her living heirs/children was sought. Absolutely unacceptable and we will be taking action against it,” she tweeted at the time.

The actor also spoke about how the roles she selects become a part of her personality long after ending a project. “All the characters I’ve played become a part of my personality somehow. An artist is a very emotional being, so the characters stay with you. I call myself a chameleon. Some elements get left behind, but my own personality is strong enough to resist being fully influenced by the characters I play,” she added.
