Renowned actress and recent Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient in Pakistan, Mehwish Hayat has decided to do full justice to her star status. The actress revealed at a show on BBC World that she is now an ambassador of Penny Appeal, a UK based international humanitarian charity, with which she wants to rebuild five schools in Sukkur, Sindh.

According to Penny Appeal’s official website, Mehwish’s aimbition is to “raise £100,000 to rebuild and transform 5 amazing schools in rural Sindh, which is one of the most deprived areas in the whole of Pakistan, having battled with drought and poverty for decades. These schools will have space for 618 children to learn every single year.”

Taking on the show, Mehwish shared that “parents in these rural areas want their girls to get education and be a part of the community. It’s is merely lack of resources, otherwise, there is a very progressive state of mind.”
