On Sunday night, Filmmaker Jami, known for films Operation 021 and Moor, shared why he strongly supports the campaign as he came forward with his personal #MeToo story.

In a series of Tweets, the director revealed how he was ‘raped’ by a local media giant and to date he is struggling with the trauma.

“Why I’m so strongly supporting #metoo? cuz I know exactly how it happens now, inside a room then outside courts inside courts and how a survivor hides confides cuz I was brutally raped by a very powerful person in our media world. A giant actually and yes I’m taller than him but I froze not sure why yes it really happens and happened to me,” he wrote.

Jami shared that 13 years have passed but he hasn’t recovered. He shared that his friends from the fraternity didn’t do anything.

“Till this day 13 years have passed, I curse myself why i didn’t take his eyes out but I was so close to this guy a friend, doing his mega shoots for his mega high end books and museum launches etc may be that’s why my system shut down,” he added.

“I told my few close friends but no one took it seriously. I told them so many times with the name of this tycoon but as if I’m a joker or something. Yes high end friends top end friends in media didn’t do anything,” the filmmaker shared.

Jami spent over six months in therapy and took medication for his trauma, but nothing seemed to work in his favor. He then left the country to ‘reboot’.

“He came to my fathers funeral also and instead of crying for Papa (who got to know before dying that I’m destroyed) I was hiding inside my own home telling mother who was also busy with her pain to run out and stop him from coming in,” he wrote.

Jami shared that it is still difficult for him to name the culprit.

“Till this day I don’t have the courage to come out and name him. It’s super tough. I know my own buddies will laugh and joke. I’m writing this now cuz #metoo is under attack and I’m ready to partially vomit out my own experience. It’s all true what the victims say and how they say or hide. It’s all an exact same pattern a victim goes through like clock work as if DNA has a SOS gene to shut up,” he added.

Talking out the recent incident where a college professor committed suicide on alleged claims of harassment, Jami said that it doesn’t mean all stories are lies.

“So one wrongful death doesn’t mean all victims are fake and liars. I’m pissed that they are attacking the movement and victms so I’m coming here today after 13 or so years to say 99.99% survivors are telling the truth always. No doubt ever!”

The filmmaker explained that he never fights or get this angry on social media but after this incident, he wants to stand in support of all the victims and survivors. Jami shared that he knows the consequences of what he’s written will be grave but it is high time to speak up.

“My personality changed in few months and its very erratic the way I talk but I promised myself I will stand for all #metoo. I know it’s a suicide what I’m writing right now but this is important before they harm the movement. I know now they all will attack me also… but its time,” he wrote adding, “Stand for all victims all the time and it will be fixed. Selective activism is unjust.”
