With his current hit TV serial, Alif Allah Aur Insaan on air, it seems 2018 is going to be even bigger for Mikaal Zulfiqar as he is set to take on the silver screen with not one, but four upcoming films!

Commencing the year with a cameo in the much-anticipated Cake, starring Adnan Malik, Sanam Saeed, and Aamina Sheikh, Mikaal will also star in films Sherdil, Na Band Na Barati and a film tentatively titled as The Trial. In an interview with Instep, the actor revealed details about these upcoming projects.

He called his role in Cake an “extended guest appearance”, and remarked that “After watching the promos I wish I had a bigger role in it.” According to speculations, we have reason to believe that he will be playing Sanam Saeed’s love interest, but only time will confirm those rumours!

Sherdil, on the other hand, is an air force based film, co-starring Armeena Khan. Sherdil is a war film and it has been a dream to essay the role of a fighter pilot,” the actor told Instep. Mikaal also confirmed that they have Riki Butland, who has shot movies such as Star Trek and Fast and the Furious, along with Hollywood Special Effects director Scott Newman of Armageddon fame.

Apart from the other two projects, his film, Na Band Na Barati has been shot entirely in Canada and revolves around two brothers who shy away from marriage. The film is a romantic comedy and according to Mikaal we’ll be seeing the promos soon, whilst the movie is tentatively scheduled to release in the midst of 2018.

The Trial, on the other hand, sounds like a more serious film as compared to the rest. It is a love story between a Pakistani boy and a Bengali girl and is set against the backdrop of the fall of Dhaka in 1971. “As far as my role is concerned, I am essaying the character of a young student leader who is strong and heroic.” Mikaal states.

This seems to be a big year for the actor, with multiple TV projects and an additional four films, and we can’t wait!
