There is a debate going around Pakistan Super League 6’s anthem featuring Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners. While much has been written and spoken about Groove Mera, the criticism is not dying down and it seems that people are directing their hatred towards veteran singer, Naseebo Lal the most. However, luckily, there are many sane voices who are appreciating the tune as well as Naseebo Lal’s entry in a new style.

The veteran singer is not at all bothered by it and is taking all the criticism and love with a smile. During a recent interview with journalists, she expressed how thankful she is for this opportunity.

“Nobody ever gave me a national song or anthem to sing. This time, PSL management approached me for this and the makers gave me a tough composition with high notes, had they been of ‘medium difficulty’, I would not have been approached. They have added a new touch in Groove Mera which is different from dholak, baja, tabla, keyboard and harmonium,” she said.

“I am very happy that people are liking it and sharing it. I am more excited not because I think I am a big artist but because I have sung a song for Pakistan,” she added.

Naseebo became emotional during the interview and shed a few tears of happiness as well. “These are tears of joy; I thought they (Pakistanis) have forgotten me, but I am delighted to see that they remembered me,” she said.

Naseebo also sang a few lines from the anthem during the show in her signature style with enthusiasm. She also expressed her gratitude to all those who have appreciated her performance and added that she feels “truly honoured” to be able to sing for the PSL.
