With the Supreme Court of India giving clear orders for the ‘peaceful’ release of Padmaavat throughout India after a few states banned the film, it seems the problems for cinema-owners are just starting as the release inches nearer and rioters take action.

Reportedly, members of the Karni Sena in several states have threatened that they would vandalize the theatres screening Padmaavat using ‘batons and petrol’.

Owing to such threats, a majority of the leading film distributors in Rajasthan and Gujarat are not keen to screen the movie fearing consequences. Also reportedly, fringe elements in other states have already forced cinema-owners to cancel screenings and have allegedly threatened to vandalize cinema halls as those are not insured and ‘will hit where it hurts’.

Despite a number of things going wrong for the film, the Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh starrer is scheduled to release on January 25th.
