For many, bringing in talent from unknown and rustic peripheries of this nation and nurturing their ability is just a farfetched idea that may never be done or is just not viable enough. Enter Patari. In what kicked off last week, with the fiery rap styling of Abid Brohi, is Patari’s Tabeer program and it just introduced yet another potential star, Jahangir Saleem, a 12 year old office tea boy from Rohri, Sindh.

Saleem, a young office boy whose video went viral almost a year ago when he sang a Seraiki classic, ‘Chitta Chola’ in the wish to become popular, finally got his chance when Patari’s team managed to hunt him down to sing his song in a proper studio setting in Karachi, in collaboration with Abbas Ali Khan.

With its classic undertones and a melody that screams contemporary, the song is the perfect contrast to last week’s release, all while making us groove to the beats it’s been mixed with, which wouldn’t have been possible without Khan’s input.

The Tabeer program, which according to the music-streaming app will include people from the peripheries of life like tea sellers, office boys, peons, and sweepers, amongst others, will provide a platform to those who desperately want their musical talents discovered but have not had a chance to do so. Plus, if that’s still not enough motivation to support the program, the fact that all the playing royalties will go to the young singer should be!

Check out the song and tell us what you think:
