The three day PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week ended on a high note, highlighted by the brilliance of colour from Nomi Ansari, the dignity of Sana Safinaz’s colour chrome and of course the grand finale. But the day, in its entirety, was a good one.

Zara Shahjahan

Zara Shahjahan has the potential to be creative – as she was with floral lehngas and ghagras with pockets – however, the crowd pleasing commercial pieces were run of the mill. They may be essential to keep the business warm but I would like Zara to take the leap of faith and plunge into her skills wholeheartedly.

Nomi Ansari

Nomi Ansari

One of the most widely appreciated (and copied) designers, Nomi Ansari is someone who sticks close to his signature love for colour. While many designers have tried to go down this route no one has the precision and finesse of Nomi. The best thing is, that while so much fabric and embellishment generally has a tendency of looking cumbersome, Nomi manages to keep his clothes visually light and delicate. They also have a light-footed and fun element, which is backlit by his shows that never have a dull moment. The Salman Khan lookalike was the perfect pitch to an already buzzing collection.

Asifa & Nabeel

Asifa & Nabeel did the right thing by playing it safe, though the incorporation of black in bridal and trousseau wear (often considered taboo by the superstitious) was a welcome sight. Black and shades of blue have emerged as well-played trends for wedding wear this season.

Sana Safinaz

The gorgeousness of Nomi Ansari’s spectrum was contrasted by this equally spectacular monochrome wedding wear from Sana Safinaz. Amidst the smoky greys, the dusky blacks and the mute nudes was the starkness of white that stood out like a pure seagull gliding over a deep blue ocean. In terms of wedding wear that will appeal to the average woman as well as the fashion connoisseur, this was undoubtedly the most appreciated collection for its palette, style as well as the elegance of embellishment.
