Princess Diana’s turbulent love life is about to get a musical treatment!

Titled Diana, the musical is set in 1981, prior to the royal wedding and chronicles the courting of the late Princess by Prince Charles. According to Vanity Fair, the musical focuses on the themes of the monarchy in the last century and the effects of ‘the three M’s—media, marriage, and modernity.’

For anyone who has been addicted to The Crown, the musical provides a major opportunity to get an insight into the lives of the Windsors! The magazine also reported that its score is ‘eclectic’ and includes classical works as well as ‘1980s-inspired pop and rock music.’

Written by writer-lyricist Joe DiPietro and songwriter David Bryan –the duo who earned a Tony for their musical Memphis, Diana, the musical will open in the 2018-2019 season at La Jolla Playhouse, in San Diego – which is the most popular destination for theatre on the US west coast.
