The holy month of Ramazan in Pakistan is now synonymous with abundance of special Ramazan transmissions featuring prominent media personalities from actors, anchors to even singers and cricketers. This year was no exception as TV channels have been promoting several shows that have been specifically designed on religious themes for a time period of 30 days. However, a resolution seeking ban on celebrities hosting these transmissions had been submitted in the Punjab Assembly last week and it was unanimously accepted on Friday.

According to reports, the PA resolution aims to convince Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban these popular faces from the media industry to feature in Ramazan transmissions. PEMRA has yet to release a statement about the matter.

Members of the assembly are against the idea of celebrities, as opposed to religious scholars, hosting Ramazan programs and presenting content they lack knowledge in.

Now after this resolution has been moved, it is yet to be seen if PEMRA will take an action and ban celebrities from hosting Ramazan shows. With Ramazan just around the corner, it will be another task to manage new hosts to replace all the stars that are promoting their transmissions for the upcoming month.
