With Indian films back in cinemas after a five-ban unofficial but painful ban, the Chairman of Film Exhibitors Association, Zoraiz Lashari has confirmed to Something Haute that the Mahira and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees is all set to release this Sunday, the 5th of February.

“Audience can expect Raees in cinemas from Sunday,” Lashari confirmed.

However, according to other sources, the film is still subject to provincial censor boards in Punjab and Sindh, while the federal censor has given it a green signal. The film will eventually be allowed to release on the specified date, though, confirmed the source.

Although the film will face competition by not only Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil but also the Fawad Khan blockbuster Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, cinema owners are confident that the film will be able to do a successful run at the box-office and help regain the losses they have faced in the past few months.

Having said that, one still has to wait and see how the box-office battle plays out in Pakistan and if the Mahira and SRK magic will be enough to keep the film afloat amongst tough competition. An educated guess is that it will. And meanwhile, Mahira will be joining the cast and crew of Raees in a press conference celebrating the success of the film in India. She’ll be on a live video call.
