Last year in September, veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor flew off to the United States to begin ‘medical treatment’ for an ailment which according to him was the result of ’45 years plus of wear and tear at the movies’. After speculations about his frail health went rife, the Rajma Chawal actor decided to break his silence about his ongoing treatment in the US.

Soon after Rishi himself announced that he’s off for treatment, the rumour mill was churning and speculated that he’s suffering from cancer which has escalated to an advanced stage. His brother Randhir Kapoor later slammed the conjecture by saying that the veteran actor is unaware of his own illness and people should not speculate.

Now, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Rishi shared that although his medical procedure is time-consuming, he will return to India soon. “My treatment is on, hopefully, I will recover soon and God willing I will return. The procedure is long and tedious and one needs immense patience which unfortunately is not one of my virtues.”

He further said that owing to his health, he has taken a break from films for an indefinite period of time. “Thankfully, I am not thinking about films anymore, just want to be blank and refresh myself with a more relaxed mind. This break shall be therapeutic for me,” he concluded.

His treatment is likely to end in April after which he will return to India. Rishi was last seen in a Netflix film Rajma Chawal.
