After amassing international recognition and accolades, Saawan is scheduled to be screened in the Pakistani cinemas on 15th September. Written by the award-winning Mashood Qadri, Saawan is a film that aims to resuscitate the intricately hidden tough realities of life through the resilience of a disabled child. Starring Karam Hussain, Arif Bahalim, Najeeba Faiz, Imran Aslam, Saleem Mairaj, Tipu Yorguc, Hafeez Ali, and Shahid Nizami, the film’s release is immensely awaited and thankfully we do not have to wait much for it.

Recently the film released its original sound track which has us winding. Intoned in the raw and beautiful vocals of Akhtar Chanal Zehri, the song transports you to the destitute lives in barren lands where the film was shot. The song has the power to evoke a startling epiphany that way beyond the comforts of a balanced life, there exists a world tainted with the atrocities of destiny and fate.

Admirably, the song fulfills its aim to instill such feelings in us. But then you cannot just expect mundane and mediocre music from someone who gave us the beautiful renditions of ‘Daane Pe Daana’, yes Akhtar Chanal has done it well again. The beat of the song has a melodious rawness to it and the lyrics claw sublimely at deeply buried traditional instincts in you.

We greatly anticipate the release of the film that has wowed many around the globe, to finally come to the screens in Pakistan.
