Fans of comedy television would remember that the Aayegi Baraat series was one of the most enjoyable drama serials for the entire time that it aired, which is between 2009 and 2012. The series was so popular that it began with Azar Ki Aayegi Baraat and was renewed for Dolly Ki Aayegi Baraat, Takkay Ki Aayegi Baraat and then Annie Ki Aayegi Baraat. Fans were disappointed when the serial was discontinued after Annie but there’s some good news in store.

Bushra Ansari, in a recent interview with Instep, has confirmed that a new Aayegi Baraat drama is in the works.

“Something I’m very excited about is that I’ve been asked to write the next instalment of the Aayegi Baraat series,” she said. “I haven’t started it as of yet, but since a lot of people had demanded it and I initially wanted Ahmad and Vasay (Chaudhry) to write it, but they were both already busy, I finally took it up. So I’ve started thinking about whose Baraat will now come (smiles). Instead of doing something around the same old saas-bahu, I want to write to my caliber.”

We’re excited that Bushra jee is penning the next Baraat but we do hope she a) reprises the character of Saima Chaudhry (who has inspired so many more characters ever since) b) brings characters like Bobby D (Vasay Chaudhry), Taaka (Ali Safina) and Hina Dilpazir (Farry Dharrala) back because the show would be incomplete without them.

This is something we’re looking forward to!
