It’s refreshing and at the same time delightful to occasionally indulge in pure and unabashed luxury and that’s why the soiree, hosted by Sana Safinaz this afternoon, was such a pleasure. This annual get together was hosted to reveal the first look of their lawn and hosted at Cotie Roti in the midst of an abundance of roses, one huge floral teddy bear and a cascade of candles, flowers and everything high end, it was the perfect setting for the dozens of society girls and fashionistas to flaunt their loot. As is now tradition, Sana and Safinaz send out first sets of their fabric to their favourite people, who return the gesture by getting it stitched in time for their event. I can’t think of a better way to accomplish the task.

Anoushey Shahid has the height and poise to pull almost anything off and she looks lovely but this length is not recommended for most of us.

Seher Kazmi, Bunto Kazmi’s lovely daughter in law, styled her outfit in a very trendy manner, most suitable for the petite.

Many people were referring to the afternoon as a much-needed palate cleanser after fashion week. I have to say that it was also better attended; it definitely had a better looking and more stylish audience. I have to say that I didn’t recognise many ladies as their over-sized shades hid their eyes and their noses and lips keep changing every year. But variety is the spice of life and we live for diversity.

There wasn’t a single celebrity or starlet at the event, which was another relief. But then at a Sana Safinaz lawn event, the lawn is centre stage, which is the way things should be. I can’t imagine (without shuddering) how different things would appear had there been a TV channel or corporate brand sponsoring the afternoon. I wish others would look and learn.

PS. This was a Saturday afternoon well spent. I went to the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ a bit late and by that time all the lawns had been given out and I won a scarf but that’s good news for Haute subscribers as the scarf will be on the Monday Contest day after.
