With the much-awaited film, Cake a month and a half away from its release date, the promotions for the film have picked up the pace with its official trailer being released this week. However, while the publicity campaign has excited the audience, it has also raised one major question amongst the social media critics – Why does it feel like Kapoor & Sons?

To answer this question, we recently caught up with Sanam Saeed to tell us once and for all, why Cake is NOT Kapoor & Sons.

“I feel that most people think with a small-mind,” Sanam said. “Just because Kapoor & Sons was one of many countless films that made the audience realize that ‘Wow, we can relate to a dysfunctional family!’ that there’s a comparison. That film was a story about such a family, so is Cake, and so are many other films.”

There you have it from the film’s leading lady. For all the constant comparisons made about the film, there’s just one simple and logical explanation – it only shares a common theme!

Directed by Asim Abbasi, Cake is slated to release on March 30th and stars Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheikh, and Adnan Malik in pivotal roles.
