After announcing his first-ever Punjabi film feature, acclaimed filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat has now revealed the title of his upcoming project.

According to reports, the final title of this film is called Zindagi Tamasha, for which the Manto actor/director has purchased the rights of the well-known song ‘Zindagi Tamasha Bani‘ sung by Afshan Begum. The iconic Pakistani song was made popular in the 1974 Punjabi film, Naukar Wohti Da.

Previously, Sarmad had confirmed to Something Haute that the previously untitled film will be the first production under Khoosat Films. It will feature Arif Hasan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleiman and Ali Kureishi in the lead and is being shot in Punjabi.

“It’s only in Punjabi because Punjabi would be authentic for a film shot in Lahore,” Sarmad had said. “People think of Punjab as humourous and colourful but I’m a native of Lahore and I see it as something accessible and real. I understand it. I wouldn’t do a Pushto film for the same reason.”

For this film, the filmmaker has reconnected with people he has worked with on previous projects. He’s brought Khizer Idrees  – who had previously worked on Manto, Nirmal Bano, an NCA graduate, who has developed the screenplay, as well as Kanwal Khoosat, who also worked with Sarmad on the fantastic 24-hour live performance No Time To Sleep.
