Sarmad Khoosat’s ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ nominated for an award at Busan International Film Festival

Zindagi Tamasha

Sarmad Khoosat’s second feature film — Zindagi Tamasha — is making waves for all the right reasons. Before we get to see his masterpiece in theaters, the film has already been selected to screen at Busan International Film Festival and Sarmad was showered with praises as soon as the trailer was released recently.

Sarmad’s debut film, Manto, was critically acclaimed and it garnered love and appreciation from all quarters in 2015. With fresh faces such as Arif Hassan, Ali Kureishi and the model Eman Suleman, along with seasoned actress Samiya Mumtaz in the cast, Sarmad has gone more deeper and darker with his next venture. Another feather in his cap is that Zindagi Tamasha has also been nominated for Kim Jiseok Award at the said film fest. The film will screen from 6th to 8th October at different venues in South Korea.

The Busan International Film Festival launched this award two years ago to commemorate Kim Ji-seok, the founding member and deputy director of the festival, who died of a heart attack.

With a goal to ‘discover and encourage Asian films’, the Kim Jiseok Award is awarded to two out of ‘approximately ten world premieres’ selected from Asian Cinema section.
