It is an honour when Pakistanis venture out into the world and make their professional presence felt but it’s an even bigger honour when they get acknowledged by the rest of the world as well by winning international awards. One such proud moment has come today when one of Pakistan’s leading PR woman, Selina Rashid, founder of Lotus Client Management and Public Relations, has put Pakistan’s professional PR machinery on the map.

PR News conducts an annual award ceremony in New York, Top Women in PR Awards, which aims to recognize influential women and “celebrate communicators who have made bold advances in managing crises, developing brand messages and protecting and building brand reputations for their organizations or clients.” We are proud to announce that Selina has won the honour of being one of the Top Women in PR of 2017, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who have been around to see Selina’s success skyrocketing since the organization’s existence.

The PR maven took to Facebook to celebrate the victory:

“Today Lotus and PR from Pakistan was acknowledged internationally by PR News in a ceremony in NY; honoured with an award from being a ‘Top Woman in PR’. Gutted I couldn’t be there but thankful to my colleague Mahnoor Wali who made it there for us ,” she wrote.

What makes this honour even greater is that this award comes in the same year that marks the tenth anniversary of Lotus PR.

Selina also shared her story on Facebook and spoke about how the company initially started out. “We started small, from my parents dining room, with a loan of Rs 100’000. Graduated to my father and uncle’s filing cabinet, AKA store room, repaid the loan, painted the wall red, outlined a Lotus flower on it and voila, a company was born. The red is now orange, the dusty room is now a proper office albeit still dusty most of the year, but the spirit is still the same: work hard, learn from every failure and success, be empowered and empower all those around you and don’t get caught up in the politics of life, work and being human. Inspire and Aspire, always.”

Other women in the list of Top Women in PR include Ann Pace from the Bank of America, Jennifer Risi from Ogilvy Public Relations and Mel Selcher from LinkedIn. As one can see from the list of winners, Lotus PR is standing neck and neck with some of the leading organizations of the world. More power to you Selina!
